The fifth-annual G2 Merchant Risk Summit, held February 10-13, 2014 in London at the historic Landmark London Hotel, once again brought together payments industry executives from around the world, with over 200 registrants from 25 countries. This year’s theme was “Navigating Uncharted Risk,” and featured 23 speakers, including industry leaders from MasterCard, Visa Europe, Allied Wallet, PCI Council, INTERPOL, NBCUniversal and G2 Web Services, to just name a few. Session topics covered emerging and existing risks, ranging from the increasing globalization of the payments industry to understanding new EU privacy standards, as well as marketplaces, merchant bust-out fraud, and cross-border crime. The G2 Merchant Risk Summit is hosted each year by G2.
“The G2 Merchant Risk Summit always has really good speakers that are inspiring and provide thought leadership. What’s equally important is the networking: being able to meet with the card schemes is unique, and to discuss opportunities and threats with acquirers and colleagues in the field,” said Ben Koopmanschap, Risk Manager at Paysquare, who has attended all five G2 Merchant Risk Summits.
As in past years, Day Three of the G2 Merchant Risk Summit was devoted to the G2 Training Workshop, which is an opportunity for clients to learn more about G2 solutions, both at a high-level value, as well as a deeper dive training in how to best use G2 solutions. The workshop this year featured two different tracks to provide more customized options for clients to learn about and get the most from the many merchant risk management solutions that G2 has to offer.
“We’re really proud of the fact that in just a few years, the G2 Merchant Risk Summit has grown from what began as a series of client meetings in Europe, to a leading global conference on merchant risk, fraud, and compliance,” said G2 President Ed Barton.
In addition to information-packed sessions, the G2 Merchant Risk Summit also provides a valuable opportunity for networking with those in the risk management arena. From the Welcome Reception, sponsored by Allied Wallet and held in the beautiful Landmark London Gazebo, to the festive dinner held at the Royal Air Force Museum, participants had many opportunities to make connections and share ideas with representatives from MasterCard, Visa Europe, American Express, PayPal and leading acquirers and PSPs worldwide.
